Social Media Presence as a Physician

Another Zoom Cast with Dr. Brian Dooreck and Belinda Arimade of Practice Growth Coaching by Executive Health Coaching 🌱 | More Patients More Revenue

Today we're talking about Social Media Presence

How important is social media presence to a healthcare practice?

Incredibly.

More and more each year.

If you are not paying attention to it—you can bet for sure that your competition is.

Simply, it is one of the most important things you do to have new patients.

Here is what Dr. Dooreck is saying

Here are some thoughts 💭 from a Board-Certified 🥼Gastroenterologist.

“I mean, for me, and I've been doing this for over 15 years now, it has proven to be the top driving force of new patients to my practice.”

So the question is, "Do I need a social media presence as a physician?"

I mean, for me, I don't think..."need" is a strong word.

I'll tell you, you'd "want" to on social medial in this day and age.

And I think that it's almost borderline criminal in the sense that when someone's a professional, in terms of a doctor, a lawyer or anyone that has professional training, not to share some information that we have on these social media platforms.

It doesn't have to be complicated.
It doesn't have to be detailed.
There's nothing wrong with just giving and serving.

It doesn't have to be complicated.

What can a professional share online?

And when you're a professional and you have training in healthcare, in law, in any service that can help other people, but the simplest way of just sharing little tips and tricks and things that we deal with every day can really improve people's quality of life.

So I think it's not even about needing or wanting or anything.

I think it's just kind of an obligation in this day and age.

If you're going to spend time yourself scrolling through Instagram, spend 30 seconds, and just share with someone:

  • "How can I help you?"

Simple as that.

Just do it online.

What about a non-healthcare professional?

You're in sales, you're in the business world, you're a consumer, what are your thoughts on that?

You pull from people on the socials media to improve your life or is all about scrolling

and looking for likes?

It's about giving back to the community

It's about giving back to the community that's giving something to you, whether it's entertainment or it's something from a knowledge perspective.

In my experience in dealing with professionals, building their personal brands,

they go beyond dealing with just healthcare providers.

Why is it important?

But sometimes when you're doing something day in and day out and you've been doing it for more than a decade, it's easy to minimize the importance of some of the things that you do every day, the things that you see every day.

And so, of course, I deal with a lot of industries, specifically in the finance industry, where the fear is I don't want to say something that is going to put me into a position where I'm compromising someone's personal information.

But the stuff that you're dealing with day in and day out,t's simple to you but it's not so simple to the people who are scrolling through a feed and are looking to learn something.

So I think that there's a lot of value in the information that you probably take for granted as a physician that's been involved in patient care for so long because it's nothing new to you, but it's new to patients and to people who are scrolling through their feeds.

"There's a lot of value in the information that you probably take for granted as a physician."

And listen, the truth of it is we're all, in some senses, building our businesses.

Whether you're a doctor, a plumber, a lawyer, an electrician, whether you're in the finance business, we're all building and growing our businesses, typically.

And so I think that by giving and sharing, instinctively, it's just going to happen.

You're just going to end up growing your business based on a natural, healthy, organic way.

You're just going to end up growing your business based on a natural, healthy, organic way.

And that's why it's important, so, yes, I think the answer is you do need to be on social media.

Yes, I do think you do need to share.

I think that the motivating factor s to be giving and serving. All the other stuff just comes.
